Bunkhouses
Bunkhouses in mountain towns across the northeast are commonly operated by hiking clubs or hostels, serving hikers or low-cost travelers in Spartan, but clean accommodations. Ski dorms were common a half century ago, but currently have fallen by the wayside. Occasionally ski town inns or motels have separate bunkrooms for cost-conscious guests.
One of the best deals across ski country is to get a private room at a bunkhouse. Offered by only a few bunkhouses, private bunkhouse rooms offer a private bedroom, public bath and often access to a kitchen.
